Drive

I enjoy the world of significant problems and appreciate that not all questions have objectively correct answers; consequently, I am always prepared to justify my position, and I embrace a pragmatic business-first approach to cyber security after all, the objective of a security function is to enable the business to move quickly and not be a blocker.

My focus most recently has been to utilise the 15+ years of public and private sector experience towards driving DF & IR functions forward to a more mature footing whilst also forming and operationalising a Cyber Threat Intelligence capability to reduce attack surfaces further and proactively mature the businesses’ defensive posture.

Daily life has been to provide that final escalation point for security concerns and ensure all relevant CTI-related information is actioned and communicated to stakeholders, mentor and assist junior staff in reaching their own goals, and guide a team member to create a formalised threat-hunting capability.

Drive / Interests

Following on from my earlier point about enjoying the world of significant problems; I have for many years spent my free time reading philosophical content; which accumulated in completing an MA in Philosophy and Artificial Intelligence degree in 2023.

My specific interests reside within the Mind; classic topics around Vats and Bats are particularly interesting; and specifically how these classic problems apply to AI. Other topics that interest me are data ethics, epistemology, and issues around the Control Problem when considered against varying degrees of artificial intelligence. My dissertation was titled The Divine Social Kantian Hybrid Model: A Conceivable & Aligned Moral Framework for AI which proposed a novel moral framework based upon Divine Command Theory, Social Contract Theory and Kantian Ethics.

The next stage is to start drafting Ph.D. proposals; the plan is to stop learning once I cease to be.
